Classes and Workshops

Have you ever been interested in learning the fundamentals of stained glass? Are you looking to try out the techniques to producing your own stained glass work? I am available to instruct classes in the art of stained glass production at your studio, arts center, museum, or other workspace for multi-session classes or open studio workshops.

I have several standard format course structures already (See below), but I could also collaborate on building a course structure more customized to suit your needs.

Introduction to Stained Glass (TBA)
Learn the basics of stained glass covering the process and production with this
hands-on series of classes. Students will start by briefly exploring the classical genres of stained glass in New England, and move through a review of modern styles and techniques. Students will over the duration of the class complete at least one hands-on project following variations of provided patterns, or by individual design all while learning proper use of tools, the safe handling of varieties of glass, and other associated materials.

Advanced Stained Glass (TBA)
Enhance your skills in the medium of stained glass, this class is for those who have taken the Introduction to Stained Glass:course, or otherwise have demonstrated experience working with stained glass. Work independently in a comfortable studio setting with guidance from experienced a stained glass artist by your side.

Handmade Workshop: "Sea-glass" Windows (TBA)
Do you have sea glass that you’ve collected over the years and want a fun way to display it? Have you ever wondered how sea glass windows are made?

Learn how to transform traditional windowpanes into mixed media works of art as you create your own “seaglass window”. The technique to be used was developed to combine off the beach “seaglass” onto intact-glass, everyday windows of all shapes and styles. Attendees bring their own windows, sash-style windows work best, and their own collection of seaglass. All other materials for the project’s completion will be provided, as will be a random sampling of seaglass from the instructor’s collection. Questions on the style of window or other aspect of the workshop should be directed to the instructor.

This sea glass window workshop will guide you through the process of making your own window. Bring your own old window sash with glass panes still intact and your sea glass collection and design your own window. No artistic experience necessary.
