The process to restoring this chapel window has been such a positive experience. Each phase of the project has required planning in advance, rather than diving in but fortunately this has paid off as I am nearing the completion of this first completed window of the project. Through this experience working on this historic chapel, even in this current state as being part of a private home today, this has provided me the opportunity to re-visit my own lineage in Jamestown. While I arrived to Jamestown with my family in the mid-1980's, the ancestry of my father (Jerry Weeden) dates back to the original settlers of Jamestown (the Weeden's, Watson's, and Slocums). It was for this reason among others, that my mother selected Jamestown for us when she decided to move the family from Illinois when I and my brother were young.

While Preston's chapel no longer is part of Saint Matthew's of Jamestown, taking on this project has stirred up memories and conversations among our parish. It has been not only a living history project for me, but also for them. Whether this moves forward to more work or this single restore at the Chapel, this project certainly has increased my interest in this line of stained glass work for the future.
